Dog Licensing

Chapter 140, Section 137 of the Massachusetts General Laws and Chapter 5, Article II of the Code of the Town of Pelham require that all dogs six months or older, resident in the Town for more than 30 days, are licensed.

New licenses require that you provide the following information:

Name and address of owner - Owner's telephone number - Name, breed, color and age of dog - Rabies vaccination certificate - and proof of spaying in order to receive discount.

Fees are $3 for Neutered Male, and Spayed Females; and $6 for Males and Females.

Licenses expire on March 31st regardless of when they are issued. There is a two month grace period during which a license can be renewed without incurring a late fee. Licenses renewed on or after June 1 are subject to a late fee of $10. Licenses renewed on or after July 1 are subject to a late fee of $25. Licenses renewed on or after August 1 are subject to a late fee of $50. Licenses not renewed by August 31 are referred to the Dog Officer. All late fees are in addition to the licensing fee.

Licenses may be obtained/renewed from the Town Clerk, at the Rhodes building on Wednesdays from 1:30 pm to 4 pm or at Lichtenberg Veterinary Hospital, 2 Belchertown Road, Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to Noon or by mail by providing the information required, the appropriate fee, and a stamped self-addressed envelope to Town Clerk, 351 Amherst Road, Pelham, MA 01002.
