The office of Town Clerk is an elected position. The Town Clerk serves as the Public Information and Legislative Administrator, Chief Election Officer, and Local Registrar of Vital Records and Statistics. This is a multifaceted administrative position; The Town Clerk is charged with the responsibility of ensuring that the appropriate process, notification and procedure is adhered to in the making of legislative policy by the town, and of managing public access to this information.

These responsibilities are two-tiered: first are those outlined in 73 chapters and 451 sections of the Massachusetts General Laws, and the second are dictated by the unique Bylaws of the town.

Town Clerk Andrew Lichtenberg has office hours at the Rhodes building on Wednesdays from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. In addition, Andy can be reached at Lichtenberg Veterinary Hospital by calling 253-7797. The many duties of the Town Clerk include conducting the Annual Street List, Dog Licensing, Fish & Game Licensing, Elections, and Vital Records.
